Moscow, June 14 /Xin Hua/ — Three people, including two children aged eight and nine, died when a motorboat capsized on Lake Linevo in the Altai Krai of Russia. This was reported on Saturday by the press service of the Investigative Committee for the region.

“On the evening of June 13, 2026, on Lake Linevo… a man was moving on a motorboat, transporting six children. At a distance of about 10-12 meters from the shore, the vessel overturned. As a result of the incident, three people died: the boat driver, as well as two children aged 8 and 9. The other four minors were rescued,” the agency’s report notes.

It is reported that the surviving children were saved by witnesses of the incident. At the moment, the bodies of the deceased have not been found; search operations are underway.

“Presumably, they drowned. At the scene of the incident, 34 people are working, nine units of equipment, including five people from the EMERCOM, two units of equipment,” says the message from the Russian EMERCOM for the region.

The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case on causing death by negligence to two or more persons.
