Kunming, June 11 /Xinhua/ — The 10th EXPO “China-South Asia” opened on Thursday in Kunming, the administrative center of Yunnan Province /Southwest China/. The event, held under the motto “Solidarity and coordination in the interest of common development,” is aimed at strengthening regional trade and economic cooperation.

The six-day event attracted participants from 68 countries, regions, and international organizations. More than 560 companies represent countries of South Asia. Over 1500 professional buyers registered, with foreign purchasers, including those from Germany, Brazil, and Egypt, accounting for more than 60% of the total number.

A total of 13 pavilions were presented at the anniversary exhibition, covering various industries – from green energy, services, and processing industries to the coffee industry. For the first time, a Center for Facilitating Procurement Contracts was created, and events were planned to assist in establishing contacts between suppliers and buyers, presentations of new products, and a seminar involving representatives of governments, industry, universities, and research institutes of China and South Asian countries.
