Tbilisi, June 10 /Sina ua/ — Georgia and the International Reconstruction and Development Bank, part of the World Bank group, have signed a loan agreement for the project “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route: Improving Accessibility and Transport Infrastructure of Georgia.” The agreement provides for the allocation of 372 million US dollars to the country. This was reported on Wednesday by the Georgian Ministry of Finance.
As noted, besides financing from the World Bank group, work is underway to attract $175 million from the Asian Development Bank and $182 million from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
Funds will be directed to the purchase of electric locomotives for the company “Georgian Railway”, construction of electric substations, development of road infrastructure with transport interchanges, bridges, and overpasses.
