Beijing, June 10 /Xin Hua/ — The consumer price index (CPI), the main measure of inflation, in China rose by 1.2% year-on-year in May of this year, according to widespread official data released on Wednesday.
According to data from the State Statistical Administration of the PRC, the basic consumer price index, which excludes prices for food and energy carriers, increased by 1.1% year-on-year.
In the monthly calculation, the CPI decreased by 0.1 percent in May.
Data also showed that the Producer Price Index (PPI), which is an indicator of changes in wholesale prices of producer goods, in China in May 2026 increased by 3.9% on an annual basis. -0-
