Beijing, June 9 /Xin Hua/ — China calls on the Philippines to cease its actions that violate law and order and are provocative in nature in the maritime space, and also to refrain from escalating tensions and aggravating the situation, said the official spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lin Xian on Tuesday.

Lin Qian made this statement in response to the corresponding question at another press briefing.

He emphasized that the island of Huanayandao is an integral part of China’s territory, and China possesses indisputable sovereignty over Huanayandao and the adjacent waters.

According to him, any activity by China on the island of Huanayandao, including scientific research, is a lawful right of a sovereign state.
