Gennady Mikhailovich Badin was born in 1937 in the city of Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod). Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, twice laureate of the RF Government Prize in the field of science and technology in 2006 and 2023, honorary member of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, author of more than 200 scientific works, textbooks, monographs, reference books and teaching aids.

In 1959, he graduated from the Gorky Engineering and Construction Institute, receiving the profession of “civil engineer.” He completed a diploma project on the theme “Circus in the city of Gorky” under the guidance of Professor B.B. Lampsi, and conducted pre-diploma practice in Leningrad, where he became acquainted with the structure of the Chinizelli circus. In 1975, he was admitted to the department of “Construction Production” at the Leningrad Architectural and Construction Institute (now SPbGASU), where he worked as a professor, dean for work with foreign students, and head of the TSP department.

Gennady Mikhailovich prepared 28 candidates of technical sciences and seven doctors of technical sciences, worked in Cuba at the university in the city of Santiago de Cuba, where he gave lectures and provided assistance in staff training; worked in Karelia as the head of the department at Petrozavodsk University, was several times sent on business trips to Germany to the universities of Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden. As chairman of the state examination commission, he worked in Tver, Yakutsk, Kyzyl, Rostov-on-Don.
