Harbin, June 7 /Xinhua/ — On Saturday, the 3rd football match among adult teams from eight cities of China and Russia in 2026 started in the city of Hegang, Heilongjiang Province /Northeast China/.
The tournament includes teams from more than 120 players from Russian cities such as Birobidzhan, Ussuriysk, Khabarovsk, as well as Chinese cities such as Heihe, Mudanjiang, Shenyang, and others.
On the same day, the 7th football tournament among Chinese and Russian youth teams of 2026 also began, which gathered 39 young players from Birobidzhan and Khabarovsk, as well as 220 players from 22 teams representing Hegang and other Chinese cities. Matches are held in three age groups: U9, U11, and U13.
According to the organizers of the football competitions, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of sister city ties between the cities of Hegang and Birobidzhan. In connection with this, the football tournaments of the current year have become the largest in scale over the past three years, gathering a record number of participants. At the moment, these football matches have already become landmark events, attesting to the close cultural and sporting exchange between the city of Hegang and Russia.
In addition to this, excursions to museums, joint creative workshops on handicrafts, and other events will also be organized for Russian guests. The purpose of these initiatives is to promote the further expansion and deepening of cultural exchanges and cooperation between Hegano and the corresponding Russian cities.
