Beijing, June 7 /Xinhua/ — The Ministry of Water Resources of the PRC activated a level 4 emergency response mode on Sunday in relation to 6 administrative units at the provincial level of the country, namely the provinces of Hunan, Guangdong, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the city of Chongqing.
In China, there is a four-level emergency response system, in which the first level is the most serious.
From Sunday to Tuesday, heavy rains will pass through the six regions mentioned above, and in some areas, extremely heavy downpours are expected.
It is expected that the water level in several rivers of these regions will rise, while small and medium rivers in areas that may be affected by heavy rains risk flooding, exceeding the alarming level. In mountainous and hilly areas, there is also a high risk of disasters associated with mountain streams.
The Ministry of Water Resources of the Kyrgyz Republic sent notifications to local water management bodies and river basin management authorities about the adoption of targeted measures to prevent floods. -0-
