Beijing, June 5 /Xinhua/ — Artificial Intelligence /AI/ is not the prerogative of major states and should not become a cause for rivalry or a battleground for confrontation, said the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Mao Ning, on Friday.
A Chinese diplomat made these remarks at another departmental press conference, responding to a question related to the IAEA.
According to her, AI fundamentally changes the way of life and methods of production and represents a new task that humanity must solve through joint efforts.
In July this year, the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026 and the High-Level Conference on Global Artificial Intelligence Governance will be held in Shanghai.
“We expect to use the upcoming conference as a favorable opportunity for in-depth exchange of views and dialogue with all parties, to strengthen global AI governance and promote the development of AI in the interest of the well-being of all humanity,” said the representative of the Chinese foreign affairs department.
