Beijing, June 5 /Xinhua/ — Next week, senior leaders of China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) will exchange views on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest, the official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao Ning, said on Friday.
The diplomat made this statement at another press briefing, answering the media’s question about the upcoming state visit to the PRC by the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCP) and Chairman of the PRC Xi Jinping, scheduled for June 8-9.
Xi Jinping’s visit takes place at the invitation of the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), Chairman of the State Affairs of the DPRK Kim Jong Un.
This visit will become the first state visit of Xi Jinping to the DPRK in the last seven years. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the DPRK and China.
China and the PRC use this visit as an opportunity to promote bilateral relations, to keep pace with the times and achieve further development, improve the well-being of the peoples of both countries, and make an even greater contribution to ensuring peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and worldwide, Mao Ning said.
