Beijing, June 4 /Xinhua/ — The United States should heed the call of the international community to immediately and fully lift the blockade and sanctions, as well as cease coercion and pressure against Cuba. This was stated on Thursday by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Mao Ning.
“The USA cannot justify the barbaric blockade and illegal sanctions against Cuba with fabricated accusations, slander, and defamation,” emphasized the diplomat at another departmental briefing, responding to a question about recent statements by the US Secretary of State Mark Rubio.
As Mao Nin pointed out, these unilateral sanctions and embargoes, which have been in effect for several decades, inflict serious blows on Cuba’s economy and population and provoke widespread condemnation from the international community. He added that China firmly supports Cuba in defending its national sovereignty and security, as well as in resisting foreign intervention.
As reported, on June 2 M. Rubio ignored the statement of an American senator that in the course of a thorough investigation by the special services conducted during the previous president Joseph Biden’s administration, no evidence was found of the Cuban authorities’ involvement in supporting terrorism. Meanwhile, information appeared in the SMI that due to a fuel shortage caused by the American oil embargo, the UN failed to effectively distribute almost 20 thousand tons of food aid provided to the island.
