Tianjin, June 4 /Xinhua/ — At the 4th Tianjin International Shipbuilding Industry EXPO (TISIE), the latest technologies and equipment of the shipbuilding sector were presented, clearly demonstrating the prospects for intellectualization and greening of shipbuilding.
The exhibition will be held from June 2 to 5 under the slogan “Shipbuilding Connects the World, Logistics Builds the Future: Artificial Intelligence Opens New Horizons for the Development of Ports and Shipbuilding.” The exhibition area is 50 thousand square meters, and it was attended by more than 400 companies.
The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), a regular participant in the exhibition, took part again this year. RS General Director Sergey Kulikov noted that digitalization and environmentalization are key vectors of the modern development of the global shipping industry, and the viability and potential for cooperation in the Chinese market open up important opportunities for RS.
According to him, the company is actively developing a range of digital products and services for clients. In particular, a set of digital tools has been developed for operational calculations and assessments in emergency situations on ships, allowing to minimize losses and prevent incidents.
In his opinion, digital technologies contribute to improving the quality of service and the overall efficiency of the functioning of the shipping industry. When updating the current standards for safety procedures, certification, inspection, and auditing in the global shipping industry, they should become more effective and intelligent.
In addition to digitalization, a priority area of RSC’s work is also ecological development. As emphasized by S. Kulikov, a new era of energy sources is dawning in one of the world’s shipbuilding industries. The most important directions for development will be ships powered by new energy sources, electric ships, autonomous ships, as well as new, more environmentally friendly and safe types of fuels.
RS was founded in 1913. At present, it has 28 branches in Russia and 13 countries and regions of the world. Since 2003, when the first RS representative office in China was opened in the city of Tianjin / Northern China, which became its headquarters in the PRC, RS provides services such as industrial equipment certification, technical documentation expertise, supervision of ship repairs and construction, as well as various types of inspection and certification services.
S. Kulikov indicated that Russia and China are major maritime powers, and maritime transport accounts for the lion’s share of foreign trade cargo transportation between the countries, therefore the potential for bilateral cooperation in the shipbuilding industry is enormous.
RS strengthens its positions in the Chinese market, relying on two key factors: digitalization and environmentalization. The company actively uses technological and service innovations to promote a more intellectual and environmentally clean development of the shipbuilding industry of both countries, noted S.
