The updated “Green Route” for the summer season was presented by VDNH and the N.V. Tsitsin Main Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).
“Green Route” is a program of a long walk, thanks to which city residents will be able to walk along the aerial eco-trail in the old Sheremetyev oak grove, enjoy the views of the rose gardens, visit the dendrarium and other natural corners. Now the route includes not 42, but 50 points, including the pontoon promenade and the Sochi hill.
Sochi hill near pavilion No. 29 “Floriculture and Landscaping” of the “Biocluster”, subordinate to the capitalDepartment of Culture, — it is an architectural and landscape object created in the 1970s. The slopes of the hill are reinforced with retaining walls made of cobblestones and slabs, reminiscent of a seashore. The second new stop is a pontoon promenade along the cascade of Kamensky ponds. This is a place for peaceful walks by the water, and in the evening the lighting here is turned on.
Important stops of the green walk also became the sites of the “Biocluster”: pavilions No. 28 “Beekeeping” and No. 31 “Geology”, where the exhibitions of the K.A. Timiryazev State Biological Museum were placed.
Visitors to VDNH can visit the newlyweds’ garden — a place where the personal stories of new families intertwine with the story of the exhibition. In the cherry orchard, couples who married in the Marriage Palace at VDNH plant family trees. They become symbols of family well-being and happiness.
Among other route points is the lilac garden, laid out in 1985 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. Various lilac varieties grow on the VDNKh territory: “Beauty of Moscow,” “Nadezhda,” “India,” and other types. Here are paved paths made of light natural stone and benches installed for relaxation.
One of the main points of the “Green Route” is the dendrarium of the N.V. Tsitsin Main Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences. More than 1,300 species of woody plants are collected here, including 58 rare and endangered ones. Visitors can not only admire the unique collection but also enjoy the fragrances of the flowers.
You can get acquainted with the “Green Route” atVDNH site. In the near future, exhibition guests will also be able to get a paper version of the route at the information center for free.
