Havana, June 3 /Xinhua/ — Cuba on Wednesday rejected the accusations made by U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio, who told the U.S. Senate that the island state sponsors terrorism.

Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez stated on Monday that including Cuba in the US list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism is based on political considerations, not on evidence.

B. Rodriguez said that this decision is “so arbitrary and devoid of moral sense that even the US Secretary of State has no arguments before Congress of this country to justify the introduction of this criminal measure.”

According to him, the statements of M. Rubio indicate Washington’s intention to continue exerting pressure on Cuba.

“His mask is falling off. His political motives and sole goal are becoming obvious: to strangle the Cuban economy by all possible means, provoke a humanitarian crisis, and facilitate military intervention in Cuba,” said B. Rodriguez.
