Beijing, June 3 /Xinhua/ — Playing with words will not help whitewash Japan’s steps to reorganize its army and expand its arsenal of weapons. This was stated on Wednesday by Mao Ning, an official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, commenting on recent inappropriate remarks addressed to China by an official representative of the Ministry of Defense of Japan.
At the regular briefing for journalists, Mao Nin noted that Japan covers the deployment of armed forces abroad with the “right to collective self-defense,” issues the buildup of offensive forces for the “strengthening of retaliation potential,” and masks the export of lethal weapons as “cooperation in the field of equipment and technologies.”
As the Chinese diplomat emphasized, the so-called “facts” that Japan claims shift attention from the main issues to secondary ones, constituting self-deception and deception of others. Japan’s behavior is nothing more than an attempt to camouflage remilitarization, Mao Ning pointed out.
