Chengdu, June 3 /Xin Hua/ — On Tuesday, the 4th China-Russia Library Forum was held in Chengdu, the administrative center of Sichuan Province, Southwest China, with the theme “Improving Library Resources and Services within the Framework of High-Quality Development.”
Participants of the event discussed ways to strengthen cooperation, exchanged experiences, and outlined new directions for the joint development of the industry.
Deputy Director General of the Russian State Library Mikhail Shubin noted that the emergence of big data and artificial intelligence technologies has brought new opportunities for improving library services.
In his view, it is necessary to fully utilize modern information technologies to enhance the intellectual capacity and effectiveness of library services.
The Deputy Head of the National Library of China, Chen Yin, said that the active development of digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies provides libraries with more opportunities to expand access to resources, improve the efficiency of joint creation and use of resources, as well as implement innovative forms of resource services.
She also expressed hope for deepening practical cooperation with colleagues from the Russian State Library in the joint creation and use of literary and informational resources, as well as in the application of new generation technologies, in order to jointly promote the high-quality development of library affairs in both countries.
The forum is organized by the National Library of China and the Russian State Library with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the PRC and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. This year, the co-organizer is the Library of Sichuan Province.
