Beijing, June 3 /Xinhua/ — In 2026, 12.9 million Chinese applicants will take the national university entrance exams, also known as the “gaokao,” which start on June 7, the Ministry of Education of the PRC announced on Wednesday.
This figure has slightly decreased compared to last year’s figure, which was 13.35 million people.
The ministry stated that special measures are being conducted in the country aimed at cleaning up the online examination environment, ensuring a safe and orderly situation around examination sites, as well as combating the sale of devices for cheating, the use of cheat sheets and other violations during exams, and also illegal practices of institutions engaged in exam preparation.
The aforementioned ministry will also assist local authorities in preventing and suppressing cases of fraud using advanced technologies and actively promote the use of intellectual monitoring and control systems.
