The youth choir “Polyhymnia” of the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great won the highest award of the II city competition of student choirs “Battle of Choirs at the Mining University” and gave a large concert for the Day of the foundation of Saint Petersburg.

The ensemble under the direction of Anna Podgornova demonstrated a high level of training and sincere love for music. The title of laureate of the 1st degree was unconditionally awarded to the politenics. The female members of “Poligimni” received the title of laureate of the 2nd degree and a special diploma for the best performance of a folk song.

“This season was very bright and successful for us: in addition to a huge number of performances, only in the spring did the politeniki receive two top awards at the competitions in Vologda and St. Petersburg.,” — noted the artistic director and conductor of the Youth Choir ‘Poligimnia,’ Anna Podgornova. — ““I am very proud of the artists of our Choir, who never stop inspiring me with their dedication, diligence, and talent.”

In this academic year, there were more than 20 performances by singing politicians — concerts, “Musical Intermissions,” apartment concerts, participation in festive worship services at the Smolny Cathedral, festivals, and competitions. The final chord of the creative season was a large concert in the White Hall of SPbPU, where those very pieces that had won competitions were performed, as well as favorite works of the ensemble. The sensation was the premiere performance of a composition written by the choir participant Alena Urusova, a graduate of IPMEIT and an economist at the Department of Economics and Finance of SPbPU.”Chose My Path” was performed by a student and graduate ensemble of Polytech, “Nullum Nomen”, which originated from “Poligymnasium”.

“I wrote [it] especially for our female ensemble, because I don’t just understand ranges and sound, but I know how each girl sounds, — shares Alena Ursusova. —When during one of the rehearsals I recorded a performance fragment on a tape recorder and then listened to it at home, I couldn’t believe that this was really my composition and that it was being sung by real people, not by a computer program. It is an incredible feeling, and I am very grateful to Anna Podgornova, the girls from the ensemble, and especially to the soloist Olga Ostaeva for bringing my music to life!

Once again, politicians have proven that music works wonders: it inspires, unites people, and helps not only to build the future but also to live with inspiration.
