Paris, June 2 /Sina/ — The French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on Tuesday condemned the continuing Israeli strikes on Lebanon and called on the warring parties to cease fire.
“We recognize Israel’s right to self-defense… but nothing can justify the continuation of military operations and the prolonged occupation by Israel of the deep areas of Lebanese territory,” he said on air on the France 2 TV channel.
“That is precisely why we call for a ceasefire, so that Hezbollah stops attacking Israel, and Israel stops attacking Lebanon,” said the minister.
The head of the Ministry of Industry and Defense also expressed support for the ban on the demonstration of Israeli offensive weapons at the Eurosatory defense industry exhibition, which will be held in Paris in two weeks. “Perhaps only defensive equipment will be presented,” said J.-N. Barro, emphasizing that this restriction “fully complies with the decisions” made in the past.
