Tashkent, June 1 /Xin Hua/ — The ceremony for the launch of filming of the documentary film “My Story, My City” took place on Monday in the capital of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of the PRC Embassy in Uzbekistan, the Agency of Cinematography and the National Media Association of Uzbekistan, as well as the Confucius Institute, took part in the event aimed at deepening the traditional friendship between the peoples of China and Uzbekistan and bringing bilateral humanitarian exchanges to a new level through film documentaries and cultural dialogue.

As noted in his speech by the Ambassador of the PRC to Uzbekistan, Yu Yuzhen, in recent years, interregional cooperation and people’s contacts between China and Uzbekistan have become increasingly close, which is a vivid testimony to the high level of bilateral relations.33 pairs of provinces, regions, and cities of two countries have established sister city relations; on a systematic basis, the China-Uzbek Interregional Cooperation Forum is held. The number of mutual citizen visits is constantly growing, which facilitates the implementation of numerous joint projects and turns geographical distance into strong neighborly ties.

At the shooting launch ceremony, honored guests from the Chinese and Uzbek sides jointly unfolded a calligraphic scroll symbolizing the official start of the project. The event featured the screening of a promotional documentary film, as well as a panel discussion within the framework of cultural dialogue. Four speakers from China and Uzbekistan talked about the most iconic cities of the two countries, sharing vivid stories about urban construction, history, culture, and interpersonal contacts.

The documentary film “My Story, My City” is dedicated to the development of cities and the fates of ordinary people and, as expected, will help deepen mutual understanding and bring the peoples of the two countries even closer.

The film crew will conduct interviews and filming in various regions of Uzbekistan.
