Paris, June 1 /Xin Hua/ — The French Navy detained an oil tanker on Sunday that was sailing from Russia across the Atlantic Ocean. This was announced on Monday on the X social network by French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to him, French sailors boarded the tanker Tagor, which is connected to Russia and “subject to international sanctions.”
As É. Macron reported, the operation was conducted in the international waters of the Atlantic Ocean with the support of several partners, including Great Britain, and “in full accordance with international maritime law.”
“It is unacceptable for courts to approve international sanctions that violate maritime law and help finance Russia’s war against Ukraine, which has been ongoing for more than four years,” he emphasized.
