Polytech teachers will participate in the implementation of the “Tax Classes” project in Saint Petersburg schools. Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University signed a tripartite agreement with the Federal Tax Service Administration for Saint Petersburg and a group of city schools. In addition, Polytech and the Federal Tax Service signed a bilateral agreement on the development of human resource potential, scientific, educational, and innovative activities.
At the signing ceremony, the rector of SPbPU, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Rudskoy, the head of the UFNS for Saint Petersburg Alexander Gnedy, and the director of the seven St. Petersburg schools participated.
The third-party agreement between SPbPU, the Federal Tax Service for Saint Petersburg, and schools provides for the participation of university teachers in the implementation of the “Tax Classes” project. These exist in seven schools of the city: school No. 46 of the Primorsky district, gymnasium No. 74, school No. 143, school No. 151 of the Krasnogvardeysky district, gymnasium No. 168, gymnasium No. 343 of the Nevsky district, and school No. 588.The agreement establishes network interaction according to the model “school — university — profession”: joint implementation of the extracurricular program “Basics of tax literacy,” career guidance work with students and their parents, as well as the participation of tax authorities’ specialists in the educational process. This is another step in the development of a unique educational project on tax literacy, uniting school and higher education. The party responsible for the project’s implementation on the university’s side is the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics, and Trade of SPbPU.
The bilateral agreement between Politech and the Federal Tax Service is aimed at facilitating career guidance and the formation of a personnel reserve, improving levels of financial, tax, and legal literacy, integrating educational, outreach, and practical activities for the training of highly qualified specialists for tax authorities. The agreement also provides for joint events at the university, among them — “Federal Tax Service Career Day.”The parties agreed on the regular operation of the student association “Public Administration Laboratory”, the holding of open lectures, business games, seminars and round tables, as well as the “Tax Policy and Practice” Olympiad. The plan includes joint educational products, including the master’s program “Tax Administration and Consulting” and the continuing education program “Judicial Tax Expertise”.
Rector of SPbPU Andrey Rudskoy noted that the combination of the capabilities of the tax service and the country’s leading political university will allow preparing specialists of the highest level: Polite — one of the leaders in Russia in the field of digital engineering and digital mathematical methods in the economy. By combining efforts, we will be able to provide the country with top-level personnel. Taxation exists everywhere — in industry, housing and communal services, culture, sports. Our graduates will specialize in specific industries. To reliably assess the information presented, a specialist must understand the specifics of the industry: how, for example, profit is formed in mechanical engineering, what expense and revenue items are. How a polytechnic university, we are capable of covering a very wide range of training profiles.
The head of the Federal Tax Service of Russia for Saint Petersburg, Alexander Gnedykh, emphasized that the training of personnel for tax authorities should be based both on school education and on university science: We build training relying both on school and on science: from the tax class to the university, and further to the profession. Tax revenues form a significant part of the country’s budget, and today, more than ever, qualified specialists are needed who consolidate the theoretical knowledge obtained with practical experience.Cooperation with the Polytechnic allows us to train specialists in a wide variety of profiles — not only technical, but also economic, legal, and financial. I am convinced that we are on the right track, and this path will yield results.
As of today, seven tax classes are operating in Saint Petersburg. They were opened with the support of the Committee on Education. The first graduation of students from these classes will take place in 2027.
