On June 1, the 70th anniversary is celebrated by an associate professor of the Department of Architectural Design of our university, a member of the Union of Architects of Russia, an honored worker in the field of education of the Russian Federation, a professor of the International Academy of Architecture, a member of the Interregional Public Organization for the Promotion of Architectural Education, the European Association for Research and Cooperation in Urban Planning and Architecture, an associate professor, candidate of architecture.Fyodor Viktorovich Perov.
Fyodor Viktorovich was born in Leningrad. In 1979, he graduated from the Leningrad Engineering and Construction Institute (LISI, as our university was then called), with which he subsequently connected his professional, creative, and pedagogical activities inseparably.
Fedor Viktorovich began his professional path at the Leningrad zonal scientific research institute of typological and experimental design (LenZNIIEP), where he worked in the workshop of A. Sh. Tyvyan. Here he traveled the path from architect to deputy head of the architecture department of the North under the leadership of Yu. N. Lobanov. During these years, he participated in the development of projects for residential and public complexes for the northern regions of the country, including a complex of sectional residential buildings with built-in service enterprises in Nadym, as well as competitive projects for leisure centers for cities of the Tyumen North.
In 1986, Fyodor Viktorovich defended his candidate dissertation under the scientific supervision of Yuri Nikolaevich Lobanov.
Significant influence on the formation of the professional worldview of the architect was exerted by internships abroad at the Academy of Architecture in Rotterdam, the architectural company Akropolis-Arkitekten and KPS GROUP, as well as at the University of the state of Maryland (USA).
Since 1992, Fyodor Viktorovich has been engaged in personal project practice. In 1998, he created the creative workshop LLC “Petropolis-Architecture”, which has developed and implemented more than 50 projects.Among the best-known projects are the restoration of residential buildings on Kamenny Island, apartment hotel complexes in Repino and Serovo, residential complexes “Konstantinovskoe” and “Georgievskoe,” the “Samson” hotel in Peterhof, the reconstruction of the office complex “Katharsis,” the aquapark on Krestovsky Island, the competitive concept of Pulkovo-3 airport, the sports and wellness complex “Osta-center,” the innovative business center in Bugry, and other facilities.
A special place in Fyodor Viktorovich’s activities is occupied by the Saint Petersburg State Architectural and Construction University. More than 40 years of his life have been connected with the architectural school of SPbGASU. Since 1996, he has headed the educational workshop of the Department of Architectural Design, forming professional guidelines for new generations of architects.
From 2013 to 2022, Fyodor Viktorovich headed the Department of Architectural Design, and from 2016 to 2021 he was the dean of the Architecture Faculty, paying great attention to the development of educational programs, strengthening the creative and professional connections of the SPbGASU architectural school, and supporting student initiatives and competitive activities.
Diploma projects by graduates, prepared under the guidance of Fyodor Viktorovich, have repeatedly won awards at international and all-Russian reviews and competitions, including MOOSAO, the “Architecture” festival, the “Golden Trezini” award, the “Architekton” competition, and the international Lazary Khidekel competition.
Today Fyodor Viktorovich Perov is a scientific secretary of the dissertation council 24.2.380.02, created at our university (scientific specialties “Theory and history of architecture, restoration and reconstruction of historical and architectural heritage,” “Architecture of buildings and structures. Creative concepts of architectural activity,” “Urban planning, planning of rural settlements”), actively engaged in training scientific personnel, supervising graduate students. Under his scientific leadership, three candidate dissertations in architecture have been defended.
Great importance is also attached to his contribution to the education and interpretation of architectural traditions. Fyodor Viktorovich is the head of the author teams for the editions “Architectural School of SPBGASU”, “Architectural School of SPBGASU. Architectural Design” and “Arctic. SPBGASU”. The book “Architectural School of SPBGASU. Architectural Design” was awarded the silver mark of the International Architectural Festival “Zodchestvo-2024” and a diploma from the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences in 2025.
For many years of fruitful activity, Fyodor Viktorovich Perov was awarded the title “Honored Worker of the Education Sphere of the Russian Federation,” received an Honorary Diploma from the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the badge “Civil Engineer of SPbGASU,” and was recognized with letters of gratitude from the Governor of Saint Petersburg and the relevant committees of the city administration.
