Beijing, June 1 /Xin Hua/ — On the border area with Russia in Zhaosu County, Ili Prefecture, Xinjiang Province /Northeast China/, the opening ceremony of a series of events within the framework of the 3rd Festival of Chinese-Russian cultural exchanges among teenagers was held, with the participation of more than 500 teenagers from two countries. This was reported on the website of the Chinese news agency “Xinhua News”.

These events are designed to deepen cultural exchanges between representatives of the younger generation of China and the Russian Federation, demonstrate the attractive power of the cultures of the two states, and strengthen friendship among young people from both sides.

At the ceremony marking the start of the aforementioned events, children from the ethnic group Shexie sang a national song to welcome Chinese and Russian guests. Teenagers from the two countries performed acts such as dances, choirs, songs and dances, Russian national songs, and instrumental music, demonstrating the rich content of China’s outstanding traditional culture and the unique originality of Russian arts. They also socialized by participating in fun interactive games, making dumplings, during calligraphy lessons, and other activities.

At the cultural exchange fair, 9 exhibition zones were created, dedicated to such topics as products made from fish skin and birch bark, included in the list of intangible cultural heritage objects, the epic of the nation “Imakan”, a performance and playing the musical instrument koussan, Russian folk painting and tasting of delicacies. Teenagers from two countries had the opportunity to get closer acquainted with the charm of intangible cultural heritage and participate in making handmade products, deepening mutual understanding in the mode of mutual learning of civilizations.

The implementation of the above-mentioned measures is a specific practice of Heilongjiang Province aimed at deepening the realization of the important consensus reached by the heads of state of China and Russia, and accelerating the construction of a new platform for the openness of the country in the northern direction. It has already become an influential brand in China, contributing to the strengthening of exchanges between teenagers of the two countries.

During the first two festivals, more than 40 exchange events were held, covering topics such as artistic performances, acquaintance with intangible cultural heritage, educational tours, sports competitions, innovation, and creativity. Nearly 10 thousand young people from China and Russia actively participated.

Within the framework of the 3rd Festival of Chinese-Russian Cultural Exchanges among teenagers, it is planned to organize events in five areas, including educational tours; culture, art and sports; creativity and artistry; science, technology and industries of the future; volunteer activities aimed at building a bridge of friendship between teenagers of the two countries.
