Vienna, May 29 /Xinhua/ — Last night, the Zaporizhzhia NPP temporarily lost external power supply; this is already the 16th time during the military conflict. This was reported on Friday on the social network X by the International Atomic Energy Agency /IAEA/.
According to his data, during the time of the power outage, emergency diesel generators were started to provide power to the station’s safety systems.
MAGATE Director General Rafael Grossi stated that the cause of the incident has not yet been established. He warned that the current incident once again underscores the “fragile” situation with nuclear safety at the station.
Zaporizhzhia NPP, one of the largest nuclear facilities in Europe, has been under Russian control since March 2022. –0–
