Beijing, May 29 /Xinhua/ — The city under the direct jurisdiction of Chongqing /Southwest China/ has combined high-quality resources within the framework of China-Europe freight trains and the new international land-sea trade corridor, which runs through the western regions of China, to form a network of routes called the “Eurasian Express,” establishing a landmark strategic corridor that provides large-scale international logistics turnover between Europe, China, and ASEAN countries.
This was reported on the website of the information agency “Chongqing Xinwen” with a reference to information published on Thursday at a press conference organized by the Press Office of the People’s Government of Chongqing.
Currently, the “Eurasian Express” operates on routes along three main corridors from ASEAN countries through Chongqing (China) to Duisburg (Germany), Moscow (Russia), and Almaty (Kazakhstan). The “Eurasian Express” route network covers more than 40 foreign points on the Eurasian continent, with each route extending 10-13 thousand kilometers, and travel time ranging from 20 to 25 days, which has allowed the formation of a stable and efficient international logistics corridor with two-way traffic.
According to the data, in the period from January to April 2026, the volume of container freight traffic within the framework of the “Eurasian Express” increased by 69% year-on-year. At the same time, the average cost of cargo in one TEU reached 700 thousand yuan, which is 2-3 times higher than the same indicator within the framework of freight traffic on the new international land and sea trade corridor passing through the western regions of China, and on regular trains of international railway freight traffic China-Europe and China-Central Asia, demonstrating high market viability and development potential. -0-
