Vladivostok, May 29 /Xin Hua/ — The “Maritime Congress — Far East 2026” was held in Russian Vladivostok from May 27 to 29. The large-scale event brought together dozens of delegations from federal and regional authorities, leading companies in the shipping and shipbuilding industry, port operators, as well as scientific, technical, and educational organizations of the Russian Federation and a number of other countries.

On Thursday, as part of the congress, a plenary session “The Far East — Russia’s Sea Gates: a new transport framework, industrial growth, global routes” was held. The Consul General of China in Vladivostok, Wu Demin, noted that Chinese companies are ready to cooperate with Russian partners across the entire production chain in the field of maritime transportation and intend to actively use the ports of the Far East and the Northern Sea Route to increase efficiency.

“The strategy for the development and openness of the Russian Far East is gaining momentum: a whole range of large projects and new support measures are being launched. Exchanges and trade-economic cooperation between China and the Russian Far East are acquiring increasing strategic significance and strong dynamics. Our sides should fully utilize the existing advantages, seek new points of contact, and increase the quality and scale of interaction for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries,” said Wu Deming.

Acting Director of the Department for the Development of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation and Implementation of Infrastructure Projects of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, Marat Gabbasov, took part in the plenary session.
