Beijing, May 29 /Xinhua/ — The State Council of the PRC today released a plan for urban renewal, which outlines the main goals, priority tasks, and major projects, as well as political measures in the field of urban renewal for the period of implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
According to the plan, by 2030 significant progress is expected in the field of urban renewal, and the transition to a new model of urban development and construction will begin to yield tangible results. Moreover, during this period, cities should turn into places that provide a high quality of life for the population.
Six priority tasks are outlined, including the formation and strengthening of new driving forces for urban development, the creation of high-quality urban residential spaces, promotion of green transformation and low-carbon transition in the field of urban development, construction of safer and more sustainable cities, promotion of urban culture’s flourishing and development, as well as enhancing the potential of urban governance.
Also emphasized is the necessity of more active support for the effective use of available land plots, the implementation of housing safety management systems throughout the entire life cycle, the reconstruction and modernization of old neighborhoods and industrial zones, as well as the modernization of urban infrastructure.
