Almaty, May 28 /Xin Hua/ — President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin held talks on Thursday in an expanded format with the participation of members of the official delegations. During the talks, K.-J. Tokayev stated that cooperation between the two countries continues to develop steadily in all spheres and serves as an exemplary model of interstate relations. This was reported by the press service of the administration of the President of Kazakhstan.
“We have conducted quite successful negotiations in a narrow format, confirmed a mutual focus on strengthening our multifaceted partnership. There are no so-called contentious issues between our countries. There is only positive momentum, and we are continuously developing cooperation, enriching it with new ideas and projects,” noted K.-Zh. Tokayev.
The President of Kazakhstan paid special attention to the jointly adopted statement on the seven foundations of friendship and good neighborliness between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Russia. According to him, the document consolidates a common commitment to the further deepening of relations on a long-term basis.
As K.-Zh. Tokayev pointed out, despite the difficult situation in the world, bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic sphere, is developing successfully. Holding the Interregional Cooperation Forum has become a good tradition.
“Russia is the largest investor in the Kazakh economy among all the countries represented here. Kazakh investments in the Russian economy have exceeded 9 billion dollars — this is a good indicator. This is the result of joint work by administrations, governments, and, as we agreed, this work will have its successful continuation. To date, a pool of 177 joint projects has been formed with a total investment volume of almost 53 billion dollars; 122 projects have entered the so-called operational cycle, that is, they have been implemented,” said the Kazakhstani leader.
V. Putin, on his part, noted that Russian-Kazakhstani cooperation is dynamically developing on the principle of equality and mutual respect.
“During the course of your state’s official visit to Moscow last year, we noted in our joint statement that bilateral relations have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance. That’s exactly how it is. We are working on all fronts,” said the President of Russia.
He added that as a result of the negotiations, the parties plan to adopt a package of intergovernmental, interdepartmental, and commercial agreements covering all areas of cooperation from economics and energy to cultural and humanitarian projects.
The negotiations discussed prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation and implementing joint projects in the fields of industry, energy, transport and logistics, agro-industrial complex, digitalization. –0–
