New York, May 28 /Xinhua/ — China is ready to cooperate with Turkmenistan in accordance with the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, to promote cooperation on major projects and to give a new impetus to bilateral relations. This was stated on Wednesday by a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, head of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi during a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.
Van I thanked R. Meredov for the trip to New York to participate in the meeting of the UN Security Council at a high level.
According to him, the more complex and unstable the international situation becomes, the more important it is to support multilateralism and uphold the authority of the UN; otherwise, the main burden of consequences will fall on the countries of the Global South.
Noting that the UN serves as an important platform for cooperation between China and Turkmenistan, Van I said that the parties must continue to strengthen coordination, support major initiatives of each other, and demonstrate a high level of the all-encompassing China-Turkmenistan strategic partnership.
The successful March visit to China by the national leader of the Turkmen people, chairman of Halk Maslahaty / People’s Council / of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, further strengthened mutual trust and friendship between the leaders of the two countries, ensuring a reliable strategic guarantee for the development of interstate relations.
In turn, R. Meredov noted that under the current international conditions, special importance is attached to compliance with the UN Charter, as well as to the reform and improvement of global governance.
Turkmenistan highly values the comprehensive strategic partnership with China; a deep political mutual trust has been established between the countries, exchanges are often held at a high level, and pragmatic cooperation is gaining momentum, he emphasized.
Turkmenistan is ready to work with China to promote cooperation on major projects such as the development of natural gas fields, the expansion of cooperation in areas such as trade and interconnectedness, and the advancement of bilateral relations to a new level, added R. Meredov.
