New York, May 27 /Xinhua/ — On Tuesday, a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, and the head of the Argentine Foreign Ministry Pablo Kirchner agreed to deepen an all-encompassing strategic partnership and expand practical cooperation between the two countries.

At a meeting held on the sidelines of the high-level session of the UN Security Council, dedicated to protecting the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and strengthening the international system, the core of which is the UN, Van Yi said that China and Argentina should jointly support and revitalize the UN and facilitate the reform and improvement of the global governance system.

The CNC is ready to present joint efforts with Argentina to implement the consensus reached by the heads of the two states, and to contribute to the long-term and sustainable development of the comprehensive China-Argentina strategic partnership, he said.

Beijing highly values Buenos Aires’ adherence to the One China principle, emphasized the minister.

Noting the strong economic complementarity between the two states, Van I added that the parties should continue to expand practical cooperation in various fields.

China does not seek geopolitical rivalry and does not ask other countries to choose one side or another, said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Chinese-Argentine cooperation is not directed against any third party; it reflects mutual benefit and mutually advantageous cooperation between the two countries, he said.

In turn, P. Kirnos expressed gratitude to Beijing for its support of his state on the issue of the Malvinas Islands. Argentina will firmly adhere to the one-China policy, ready to strengthen common interests with the PRC for the benefit of the peoples of both countries and enhance the strategic nature of Argentine-Chinese relations, he said. –0–
