Beijing, May 25 /Xinhua/ — China consistently holds the opinion that only dialogue and negotiations are the proper way to resolve the situation with Iran, and the use of force is a dead end, said on Monday the official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mao Ning.
At another press briefing, a diplomat was asked to comment on media reports that the USA and Iran are close to reaching an agreement.
“Now, when the door of dialogue is open, it cannot be closed again. It is important to stabilize the tendency toward easing the situation, adhere to the course of political settlement, and reach a solution that takes into account the concerns of all parties through dialogue and consultations,” Mao Ning noted.
According to her, it is important to reopen the sea routes as soon as possible, respond to the calls of the international community, and jointly support the stability and smooth operation of global production and supply chains.
An official representative called for the earliest possible achievement of a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire and the swiftest possible restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region in particular. -0-
