Addis Ababa, May 25 /Sina/ — The African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) warned that 10 African countries are at high risk following the recent Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda, while there are concerns about regional spread.
At an online briefing on Saturday evening, Africa CDC Director-General Jean Kaseya reported that the countries classified as high risk include South Sudan, Rwanda, Kenya, Zambia, the Central African Republic, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Angola, the Republic of Congo, and Burundi.
According to the specialized health authority of the African Union, since the announcement of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s 17th outbreak on May 15, a total of 745 cases of infection have been registered, including both suspected and confirmed, and 176 deaths, probably related to Ebola. –0–
