Los Angeles, May 22 /Xin Hua/ — The American private space company SpaceX conducted the 12th test launch of the Starship rocket on Friday.
The Starship spacecraft launched from the Starbase cosmodrome in Texas at 17:30 Central North American Time. Shortly after the launch, SpaceX confirmed the separation of the stage. It is planned that the carrier rocket will make a controlled landing in the Gulf of Mexico.
This is the maiden flight of the new generation Starship spacecraft and Super Heavy launch vehicle, equipped with a modernized version of the Raptor engine. The launch was conducted from the new pad at the Starbase spaceport.
As stated by SpaceX, the main goal of the test flight is to evaluate the effectiveness of this modernized system in real conditions for the first time.
