Marat Husnullin held a meeting with Governor Alexander Beglov
Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin visited Saint Petersburg on a working trip, where he held a meeting with Governor Alexander Beglov, as well as a meeting on the development of the transport hub, including the construction of a new ring road – KAD-2.
“Saint Petersburg is a stronghold settlement and a city of federal significance. Systematic work is carried out here in all directions. Among other things, the city is consistently engaged in the modernization of the housing and communal services sector. Special attention has been paid to the issue of housing construction. It is necessary to strengthen work on the commissioning of houses. I want to note the activity of Petersburgers in the All-Russian online voting on improvement. Today, Saint Petersburg ranks among the regions that are leaders in the number of votes cast. Along with this, transport development remains a priority.”Among the key projects is KAD-2, a high-speed bypass road that is supervised directly by the President. It will unload the existing ring road, where the intensity reaches 200 thousand vehicles per day, and will take over transit including from the ports of the Baltic, Arkhangelsk, and Murmansk. This is a large-scale task, the fulfillment of which will radically change the transport situation in the agglomeration,” said Marat Khusnullin.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the Saint Petersburg transport hub is the second largest in the country in terms of transportation volume, and the agglomeration is the second largest by population. Leningrad Oblast is one of the leaders in the country in housing construction, and solving transport accessibility issues here is extremely important. According to Marat Khusnullin, it is necessary to develop a unified transport model for Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast, including public transport movement, to link everything into a single framework for the most effective and promising development.
“I want to thank the Government of the Russian Federation for the decisions regarding the construction of KAD-2. First of all, those concerning the new drawbridge in the area of the city of Otradnoye. It will allow us to unload the existing crossings over the Neva, including those within the city territory. It is important for us that the federal center assists in solving the transport problems of the agglomeration. The introduction of KAD-2 will have a colossal impact on its development and will provide a comprehensive effect,” noted the Governor of Saint Petersburg, Alexander Beglov.
