In China, Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia, Co-chairman of the Russian-Chinese Commission for the Preparation of Regular Meetings of Heads of Government, assessed the infrastructure of the joint university of MSU named after M.V. Lomonosov and the Beijing Polytechnic Institute (MSU – BPI) in Shenzhen, and also familiarized himself with the exposition of the Shenzhen International UAV Exhibition and the Drone World Congress 2026.
Together with the Deputy Prime Minister, the Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Russia Maksim Oreshkin and the Minister of Transport of Russia Andrey Nikitin took part in the event.
Dmitry Chernyshenko and Maxim Oreshkin inspected the campus of the MSU – PPI university, including the academic building, the supercomputer computing cluster, and the Russian-Chinese joint laboratory of nanostructured optoelectronic functional materials and devices. At the university, there was also a working meeting with the rector of MSU – PPI Li Hezhang.
Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that on May 20, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Chairman of the CPC Xi Jinping at a solemn ceremony opened the Years of Russian-Chinese Cooperation in the field of education.
“Quality education forms the foundation for the development of the individual and the entire society, for self-realization and professional growth of people. This was noted recently by President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. The flagship of scientific and educational cooperation between Russia and China is the joint MGMU–PPI University in Shenzhen. An open week of the “Science 0+” festival is regularly held there. MGMU–PPI is also a major center of Russian studies in China. During the visit of the head of state to China, growth points were identified in the cooperation of our countries in science and education.””We will continue working in this direction,” said the Russian Deputy Prime Minister.
At MGU – PPI in Shenzhen, training is conducted on 59 educational programs and specialties, with 16 scientific and educational units created. Among them are the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, the Research Institute of Artificial Intelligence, and others.
“Artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and platform solutions today define the contours of the technological sovereignty of our country. It is necessary to carefully study leading global practices and, what is much more important, to create breakthrough developments within Russia itself. Real leadership is achievable only with a single set of components: development of advanced solutions, systematic personnel training, and wide adoption of new technologies in key sectors of our economy,” noted the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Maxim Oreshkin.
More than 20 thousand Russian students and postgraduates are studying at universities of the PRC. At the joint MGU – PPI university in Shenzhen, the number of students – citizens of Russia and other countries – approaches 5 thousand. In Russia, more than 56 thousand Chinese students are enrolled in higher education programs, and taking into account additional programs and academic mobility, almost 70 thousand. Within the quota of the Russian government for educating Chinese citizens this year, 1 thousand places have been allocated.
At the Shenzhen Congress and Exhibition Center, Dmitry Chernyshenko, Maksim Oreshkin, and Andrey Nikitin visited the Shenzhen International Exhibition of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and the World Congress on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. The theme of the event is “Low-altitude Economy – Takeoff into the Future.” The congress focuses on autonomous navigation, urban air mobility, logistics solutions, smart city technologies, artificial intelligence, and related fields.
In Russia, universities also pay attention to the development of unmanned aviation systems technologies. For example, within the framework of the “Priority-2030” program, 16 universities are leading 16 strategic technological projects.
Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin stated that today unmanned aviation is acquiring special significance for international cooperation.
“Civil drones, vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL), logistic platforms, and digital solutions for airspace management are already becoming part of the transport system. They are changing mobility, freight logistics, industrial monitoring, infrastructure development, and security provision,” the minister noted.
According to Andrey Nikitin, the main task is to move from the accumulated technological potential to its practical implementation. He expressed hope that as a result of the congress it will be possible to strengthen international cooperation, launch joint projects, and conclude mutually beneficial agreements between government representatives and businesses.
