Astana, May 22 /Xin Hua/ — Recently, the “Lu Ban Workshop” was opened at the Eurasian National University named after L. N. Gumilev in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. The bright laboratory was filled with robotic manipulators, computer workstations, and equipment for training in working with drones, where students observed how computer vision helps automate industrial production.
For 20-year-old student Zhansai Abduraman, the workshop became an opportunity to see her future profession in the year declared in Kazakhstan as the Year of Artificial Intelligence.
“We studied computer vision and how to work with a robot manipulator in order to automate industrial production. At the moment, this is in great demand, and artificial intelligence is developing every year,” she said.
According to the student, practical experience can help young people prepare to work at an industrial enterprise where digitalization and automation are increasingly being implemented.
The Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, who participated on Friday in an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the university and the Open Doors Day of the “Masterskaya Lu Banya,” noted that the format of the “Masterskaya Lu Banya” has proven its effectiveness in Kazakhstan. He expressed gratitude to the government of Kazakhstan for providing industrial equipment and supporting technology transfer.
“A very successful format, we are very grateful to the CNRC government for the provided equipment grant, moreover of an industrial format,” said S. Nurbek.
According to him, Kazakhstan is becoming a country where three “Lu Ban Workshops” will operate, reflecting the special character of Kazakh-Chinese relations.
Teacher Ramazan Sadvokasov, who studied in the Chinese city of Tianjin, said that the laboratory is an important step for students who, in the future, will be able to contribute to the development of artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan. According to him, almost 100 teachers and more than 30 students have already undergone practical training as part of the workshop program.
“We see our future students as specialists in the field of AI, as well as working with PLCs/programmable logic controllers, drones,” he said.
The teacher of the Tianjin Professional Institute Li Goxue, specializing in artificial intelligence, reported that the workshop in Astana is equipped with a high-performance computer class, an automated production line, a machine vision training area, a collaborative robots zone, and a drone zone.
According to Li Gosuey, Kazan teachers and students show great interest in the equipment and strive to use it to the fullest in educational and research work.
In the “Lu Bath Workshop” in Astana, robots, drones, and automated systems cease to be distant technologies from textbooks. They become tools that students can see, touch, and master in practice. –0–
