Washington, May 22 /Xinhua/ — Kevin Warsh was sworn in on Friday at a ceremony in the White House as chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (FRS) of the USA, assuming office for a four-year term.
“I lead a reform-oriented FRS, drawing lessons both from past successes and mistakes, rejecting static schemes and models, and advocating clear standards of integrity and effectiveness,” he noted after taking the oath.
“Today’s day marks the return to the institution that I truly deeply value,” stated K. Worsh, who previously held the position of a member of the Council of Managing FRS from 2006 to 2011.
“I want Kevin to be completely independent. I want him to be independent and just do his job excellently. Don’t look at me, don’t look at anyone,” said U.S. President Donald Trump at the ceremony.
According to D. Trump, in recent years the United States has deviated from its path and started to be distracted by issues that are extremely distant from its main mission and mandate, drifting into areas such as climate policy and initiatives on diversity, equality, and inclusion introduced during the Joseph Biden administration.
