Chongqing, May 22 /Xin Hua/ — The eighth Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) kicked off on Thursday in the city under the direct jurisdiction of Chongqing in southwest China. During the event, agreements were signed for 212 projects with a total amount exceeding 150 billion yuan (about 22 billion US dollars).

WCIFIT of this year with the main theme “New Western China, new processing industry, new services” will be extended until May 24. During this period, about 40 events are planned to be held, including opening ceremonies, thematic symposiums, business meetings, as well as events to stimulate consumption.

According to the organizing committee, the aforementioned projects cover a wide range of economic sectors, including advanced materials and energy. At the same time, the number of projects with an investment volume of more than 1 billion yuan for each reaches 57.

WCIFIT-2026 with an exhibition area of 150 thousand square meters gathered about 1400 enterprises from 50 countries and regions of the world. As the honorary guest country this year, Great Britain is participating.

This year, at the fair, the “List of Investment Opportunities in Chuncin” was published for the first time, which included 277 cooperation projects.
