Washington, May 21 /Xin Hua/ — The United States will send an additional 5,000 military personnel to Poland. This was announced on Thursday by the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

“Considering the successful election of the current President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, whom I proudly support, and our relations with him, I am pleased to announce that the USA is sending an additional 5 thousand military personnel to Poland,” he wrote on the social network Truth Social without further details.

Let’s recall, a week ago the Pentagon unexpectedly postponed the planned deployment of more than 4,000 American servicemen in Poland, where last year President K. Nawrocki was elected.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Defense announced that it had reduced the number of brigade combat teams for Europe from four to three, resulting in troop levels returning to the 2021 level.

The decision led to a temporary delay in the deployment of American troops in Poland, the Pentagon said, calling the country a “model U.S. ally.”

According to American CIA reports, currently there are about 80 thousand American servicemen in Europe, including about 10 thousand in Poland.

Earlier, the Pentagon announced that about 5 thousand American servicemen will be withdrawn from Germany within the next 6-12 months.
