In the Resource Center for International Activities of Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University, in-person career guidance events were held for foreign preparatory course students. The meetings, organized by the Department for Work with Foreign Students (ORIS), were conducted in three languages — Russian, Chinese, and English, which allowed for comprehensive coverage of all admission stages for students from different countries.

At the event, prospective applicants received relevant information about application deadlines, entrance examinations, working with the “Gosuslugi” portal and the personal account of the applicant of SPbPU. Special attention was given to the rules for filling out applications, choosing training directions, as well as the procedure for expert examination of foreign education documents and visa extensions. Attendees were also told about student organizations, sports clubs, and the university’s volunteer projects.

“Students of the preparatory department are very interested in continuing their studies at the Polytechnic. We have received many questions about admission to bachelor’s, specialist’s, master’s, and postgraduate programs., — noted the head of ORIS Natalia Malanova. —At the meeting, those guys who were already studying to help their compatriots with the choice were present. Next school year, we plan to hold such career guidance days not only in Russian, Chinese, and English, but also in other languages.

More than 850 foreign students from 67 countries are studying at the preparatory department of SPbPU. A few days before the event, students filled out an online form in which they indicated the most pressing questions — from the cost of education to the number of budget-funded and contract places in each field of study. The answers to these questions formed the basis of the presentation.

“We conduct such meetings immediately in Russian, because the cost of a mistake this year is very high: missing the submission deadline for the day”did not get into the main admission, did not extend the visa until August 1You risk leaving the country,” — commented the head of the Department of International Education, Evgenia Satalkina.” —Our task was not simply to list the dates, but to warn about the strict requirements of the migration legislation and the new federal law on admission through the “Gosuslugi” portal. The guys asked very specific questions: what to do if there is no SNILS, how to confirm your profile, how long to wait for exam results. We provided step-by-step instructions in Russian, Chinese, and English.no one left without an answer.

The next stage is individual support for applicants when submitting applications from June 20 to August 7 and extension of visas (until August 1).

Events of this format strengthen the reputation of SPbPU as one of the leading Russian universities, open for intercultural dialogue and equal access to education in Russian, Chinese, and English languages.
