Ordos is a city that grew on the edge of the Maowusu Desert. Over more than twenty years, it has transformed the desert into an oasis, deeply embedding the concept of mass sports into its urban fabric so that residents can enjoy a comfortable life.

The total area of greenery plantings in the Kanbashi district of Ordos city, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is 4239.25 hectares, the greening coefficient is 45.81%, the coverage with green plantings is 54.97%, and the park area per capita reaches 85.26 square meters.

Kanbashi parks are becoming “open gyms” for residents of all ages. 34 squares and parks, like emeralds, are embedded into the city map. The length of the slow green corridors exceeds 40 kilometers; they connect parks, lakes, residential quarters, and public institutions, forming a winding “emerald necklace” throughout the city.

Residents only need to leave their homes and walk less than 15 minutes to reach a green space suitable for recreation and sports activities.

The number of days with good air quality on average per year exceeds 320.
