Bishkek, May 18 /Xin Hua/ — The implementation of numerous projects within the framework of Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation positively influences the development of Kyrgyzstan. Both countries consistently support each other on issues concerning their core interests. The prospects for bilateral relations are very favorable. This was stated yesterday by the head of the Friendship Deputy Group of the Jogorku Kenesh /parliament/ of Kyrgyzstan for cooperation with the PRC, Ulan Primov, in a written interview with Xin Hua.
According to U. Primov, in recent years a considerable number of significant projects for Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation have been implemented. Among the most impressive he considers projects for the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, modernization of roads and energy facilities, as well as the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, which “has historical significance for the entire region.”
“These projects have a serious positive impact on the development of Kyrgyzstan,” the parliamentarian emphasized, noting that they contribute to the improvement of the country’s infrastructure and enhancement of transport connectivity, create new jobs, expand opportunities for trade and investment. Kyrgyzstan also gains the opportunity to strengthen its role as a transit and logistics hub between the East and the West.
The deputy indicated that such projects also strengthen humanitarian ties and friendship between the peoples of the two countries. “The more actively cooperation develops, the greater the mutual understanding, cultural exchanges, and trust between the Kyrgyz and Chinese peoples,” he believes.
U. Primov noted that Kyrgyzstan and China consistently support each other on issues affecting core interests and sovereignty.
“Kyrgyzstan consistently adheres to the One China principle, recognizes the government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government of China, and considers Taiwan an integral part of China,” he emphasized, adding that this position corresponds to Kyrgyzstan’s official foreign policy, principles of international law, and UN resolutions.
In 2027, the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kyrgyzstan will be celebrated. U. Primov stated that over the past years, Kyrgyz-Chinese relations have reached the level of an all-encompassing strategic partnership in a new era, based on mutual respect, equality, and consideration of each other’s interests.
According to the parliamentarian, today bilateral cooperation is developing not only in the trade and economic sphere, but also in the fields of transport, energy, education, digitalization, culture, and interregional ties. “Kyrgyzstan is interested in further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with China, especially within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative,” he pointed out.
U. Primov added that legislative bodies of the two countries play a special role in strengthening Kyrgyz-Chinese relations.
“Interparliamentary diplomacy contributes to strengthening political trust, improving the treaty and legal framework, and exchanging experience in the field of public administration and legislation. Regular contacts between parliaments allow for better understanding of each other’s positions and create a solid foundation for long-term cooperation,” the deputy noted. –0–
