In Harbin, Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District (FED), and Zhang Gocin, Deputy Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, opened the 10th Russia-China EXPO, which has become an important trade-industrial platform promoting the expansion and diversification of partnership between the two countries. Yuri Trutnev read out the greeting of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to the participants and organizers of the event. Zhang Gocin voiced the greeting of the Chairman of the PRC, Xi Jinping.
After the conclusion of the grand opening ceremony, Yuri Trutnev and Zhang Gocin toured the series of stands of the Chinese and Russian exhibitions.
“The Russia-China EXPO is an important and useful platform for the development of bilateral relations. The Russian part of this year’s exposition is balanced. Domestic technology is presented, including helicopters, technological achievements are shown. We need to continue interaction between our countries, exchange technologies, because it is precisely they that create the opportunity for development for countries in the modern world,” said Yuri Trutnev.
EXPO is held with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, organizers from the Chinese side – the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province.
This year, the total area of the Russian-Chinese exhibition exposition amounted to 12 thousand sq. m. The area of the Russian part was 4.5 thousand sq. m, represented by 250 organizations. Among them are leading Russian companies, including VTB, Rostec State Corporation, and Alfa-Bank. Also, the Russian part of the exposition represented 16 regions: Amur, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Ryazan, Sverdlovsk, Tver Oblasts, the city of Moscow, Zabaikalsky, Kamchatka, Khabarovsk, Primorsky Krai, the republics of Buryatia, Komi, Sakha (Yakutia), Tatarstan, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra.Pavilions of Chinese provinces and booths of Russian and Chinese companies were presented. The products for the “Made in Russia” festival-fair were brought by the Sakhalin Region and the Jewish Autonomous Region. The partner region from the Russian side of the exhibition was the city of Moscow, from the Chinese side – the provinces of Guangdong and Zhejiang.
Within the framework of the Russian exposition, special attention is given to the production of folk art crafts, which are presented at the collective exposition “Culture and Traditions: Treasures of Russia” formed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, as well as at the stand of the National Center “Russia”, the Imperial Porcelain Factory, and within the festival-fair of Russian goods “Made in Russia”, organized by the Russian Export Center.An exposition has also been formed by the Russian export center, within which more than 100 Russian manufacturers of agricultural products, cosmetics, consumer goods, and jewelry present their products. At the stand of Russian regions, in addition to current products with export potential, participants and visitors are offered to familiarize themselves with the programs of Russian professional education.
Among other things, Yuri Trutnev inspected the pavilions of the Far Eastern regions. Khabarovsk Krai revealed key directions of international cooperation. The focus is on a strategic project of federal and international significance – the development of Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island with the establishment of a cargo-passenger checkpoint, a branch of the National Center “Russia,” the Friendship of Peoples Park, and the Russian-Chinese techno-park.In the industrial zone of the stand, achievements of the Khabarovsk Krai as an industrial center of the Russian Far East are shown: well-known aircraft beyond Russia’s borders Su-57, Su-35, SSJ-100, the combat corvette “Steregushchiy.” A separate area of the stand is dedicated to the products of MSP exporters of Khabarovsk Krai. Also, companies from Khabarovsk Krai present their products at the festival-fair “Made in Russia.”
“At the Khabarovsk Krai stand, we emphasized the presentation of the most iconic intergovernmental project – the joint development of Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island. For the first time, we are presenting to Chinese visitors the project of constructing the National Center “Russia” on this island.”The national center will become a point of attraction for tourists both from our country and from the People’s Republic of China – it will combine the exhibition “Traveling through Russia,” the gastronomic rows “Tastes of Russia,” and the department store “Made in Russia,” as well as a congress zone for holding events at the national and interstate level,” commented the governor of Khabarovsk Krai, Dmitry Demeshin.
The exhibition of Primorsky Krai reflected the unique natural and cultural identity of the region, emphasizing its wealth and diversity. “At the booth of Primorsky Krai, products from 23 Primorye companies are presented. Many of them already successfully work with China and are focused on developing cooperation with the PRC,” noted the governor of Primorsky Krai, Oleg Kozhemyako.
Other Far Eastern regions are also presented at the EXPO. Participants from the Transbaikalia region included companies representing the export, tourism, and investment potential of the region. “We are focusing on practical results: negotiations, searching for contractors and sales channels for small and medium-sized businesses of the region. I am confident that we will find new points of convergence of interests, and this will give an impulse to joint projects in cross-border trade and tourism,” said the governor of the Transbaikalia region, Alexander Osipov.
From the Amur region, ten companies in the fields of trade, logistics, tourism, as well as manufacturers of honey and unique products based on natural extracts have been announced. The focus of attention at the stand is the work of the Competence Center for Russian-Chinese business cooperation, created in Blagoveshchensk on the instructions of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.”We present at EXPO in Harbin the competitive advantages of the Amur region: from cross-border infrastructure — an international automobile bridge, a cable car, a soybean port — to a gas and chemical cluster, deep processing of soybeans, and tourist opportunities of the ‘Golden Mile’ of Blagoveshchensk. This year, we also present the work of the Center of Competence for Russian-Chinese business cooperation. The Center was created by order of the head of state and helps Russian and Chinese businesses quickly and without unnecessary barriers to build joint work,” said the governor of the Amur region, Vasily Orlov.
The main goal of the Kamchatka Krai exposition is to acquaint EXPO visitors with original local products and to demonstrate the unique gastronomic features of the region through environmentally clean food products produced from local raw materials. “Participation of Kamchatka brands in the Russia-China EXPO is an important step for our business: searching for new partners and access to new markets in the Asia-Pacific region,” explained the governor of Kamchatka Krai, Vladimir Solodov.
Buryatia presented confectionery and food products of three companies at EXPO. “Participation in EXPO is a real chance for small and medium-sized businesses to enter the Chinese market, find new partners, and expand export supplies,” noted the head of the Republic of Buryatia, Alexey Tsydenov.
The central message of the Yakutsk exhibition “Railways of Yakutia – Rails of Friendship” is connected with demonstrating the strategic role of railway transport in strengthening trade and economic cooperation between Russia and China. “Our exhibition at EXPO in Harbin is not just a stand, but a symbol of Yakutia’s strategic pivot to the East. However, we offer much more than logistics. In Beijing, a wide range of projects is presented – from the construction of LNG plants and a data processing center for the Arctic to modern hotels and a ski resort,” said the head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev.
Products from the Sakhalin region and EAO were exhibited as part of the “Made in Russia” festival-fair. The Sakhalin region presented jewelry, souvenir, cosmetic, and food products. “The island region is ready to supply China with high-quality products from the fishing industry, agriculture, and other sectors, as well as creative industry items,” said the governor of the Sakhalin region, Valery Limarenko.
The Jewish Autonomous Region is presented on a joint stand of sister cities – Heihe and Birobidzhan. “The government of the Jewish Autonomous Region consistently supports the region’s business in entering foreign markets. Participation of the JAR in the international festival-fair ‘Made in Russia’ is an opportunity to present the region’s potential to a wide audience,” explained the governor of the JAR, Maria Kostyuk.
The business program of EXPO includes 14 events. The central event of the first day will be the VI Russian-Chinese Forum on Interregional Cooperation, dedicated to the development of practical interaction between the regions of Russia and the provinces of China.
In addition to the business program at EXPO in Harbin, there will be an extensive cultural program aimed at strengthening humanitarian ties between Russia and China. On May 19–20, Moscow Days will be held in Harbin, including cultural, sports, and business events dedicated to the development of cooperation between the Russian capital and Chinese regions. From May 17 to 21, there will be a festival-fair of Russian goods “Made in Russia.”Festival guests will be able to familiarize themselves with Russian products, gastronomic traditions, and folk arts and crafts, as well as participate in tastings, master classes, and cultural events.
