Moscow, May 16 /Xin Hua/ — The 6th educational exhibition “HSK: Education and Career in China” and the exclusive exhibition of Beijing universities took place on Saturday in the capital of Russia. It was attended by 45 Chinese universities and organizations. Simultaneously with the exhibition, the HSK exam was held — about 6,000 people took it, which is an absolute record.
Counselor-Envoy of the Embassy of China in Russia Cao Shikai noted that the popularity of language exchange between countries continues to grow. “More than 360 schools in Russia have introduced the discipline ‘Chinese language’ into their curriculum. There are 19 Confucius Institutes, 5 Confucius classrooms, and many other educational institutions in the country where Chinese is taught,” the diplomat said.
Cao Shiyun also emphasized the rapid growth of student exchange between the two countries. “In Russia, more than 70 thousand Chinese students study, and the number of Russian students in China has reached 28 thousand,” he noted.
The rector of the Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU), Irina Kraeva, reminded that MSLU is participating in the exhibition for the sixth time already. “Today, at MSLU, more than 600 students study Chinese. This is a great number, we are training highly qualified specialists who speak two or more foreign languages,” she noted.
The Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee for Education, Czo Lin, spoke about the achievements in education in the capital of China.
“Currently, 57 thousand foreign students from 184 countries and regions of the world are studying in Beijing. Beijing has many first-class universities and leading educational institutions. About 100 universities and research institutes can enroll foreign students,” he said.
“In 2025, the number of exam takers was 29,917 people, which placed Russia 6th in the world and 1st in Europe,” said Liu Xiaolun, Deputy General Director of the Chinese Testing International company.
According to him, the current exhibition is an important link connecting China and Russia, the spheres of education and labor markets. “This is not only a platform for communication, but also a starting point for cooperation, carrying the dreams of Russians studying the Chinese language — to get to know China and go to study there. I hope that Russian young friends, with the help of the “golden key” — the HSK test, having made the Chinese language a bridge of friendship, will open the door to China for themselves,” added Liu Xiaolun.
The exhibition was held in Huamin Park in Moscow. The event was organized as part of the Cross Years of Education between China and Russia, declared for 2026-2027.
