Tashkent, May 16 /Sina / — At the Confucius Institute at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS), a ceremony was held on Saturday to award the finalists of the Uzbek stage of the international competition “Bridge of the Chinese Language-2026.”
The event also included award ceremonies for the winners of the short video contest “Silk Road Connects: Me and China” and the presentation of scholarships from the PRC Embassy in Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of the PRC to Uzbekistan Yuij Cziun, as well as heads of specialized agencies and a number of higher and secondary educational institutions of Uzbekistan.
At the event, the results of the video contest “Silk Road Connects: Me and China” were summed up, where participants presented stories about their experience in studying the Chinese language and culture. Then, the winners of the “Bridge of the Chinese Language-2026” contest among students and schoolchildren, as well as teachers who prepared the contestants, were awarded.
In addition, 120 Uzbek students received scholarships from the DPRK embassy in Uzbekistan. The certificates of the highest award laureates were presented by Ambassador Yui Czyun.
As noted by Liu Xiaoyan, the Chinese director of the Confucius Institute at TGUV, trade-economic and cultural exchanges between China and Uzbekistan have been activating in recent years, which contributes to the growing interest of the local youth in studying the Chinese language.
“Under these conditions, scholarships established by the embassy and the regular holding of language competitions play an important role in encouraging Uzbek youth to study the Chinese language and culture. Every year, the level of preparation of the participants and the quality of their performances improve,” emphasized Lu Xiaoyan.
The organizers noted that the successful conduct of these educational events contributes to the further development of Chinese linguistic education in the republic, the strengthening of humanitarian cooperation, and bilateral ties between China and Uzbekistan.
