UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concern regarding the incident on May 14, when a United Nations vehicle was shelled twice in Kherson.

A vehicle with clear identification markings traveled as part of an interdepartmental humanitarian mission under the guidance of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, of which the parties had been notified in advance.

“The United Nations is making efforts to establish all the circumstances of this incident,” says the statement, made on behalf of the UN head by the deputy press secretary Farhan Haq.

“The Secretary-General once again declares the indispensability of the inviolable observance of international law standards,” said Hak.

The UN again emphasizes that civilians and property, including humanitarian mission personnel and facilities used for aid operations, must always be protected.
