Meeting of the co-chairmen of the Intergovernmental Commission for economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan Marat Khusnullin and Komil Rasulzoda
Within the framework of the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum,” a meeting was held between the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan – Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia Marat Khusnullin and the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kokhir Rasulzoda. In addition, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister held a working meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev.
“Our countries are gradually developing relations of strategic partnership and alliance. The President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and the President of Tajikistan Emomali Sharipovich Rahmon regularly communicate. We are building interaction on various platforms: in 2025, the 21st meeting of the intergovernmental commission was held in Moscow, the departments engaged in joint work within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.””We expect that a systemic basis for interaction will help the Conference on interregional cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan, which will be held in the autumn of 2026,” said Marat Khusnullin at a meeting with Quirros Rasulzoda.
In the trade and economic sphere, Russia acts as the leading partner of the republic. According to the results of last year, the turnover increased by more than 25% and reached almost 1.9 billion dollars. In the first four months of 2026, a significant increase is also recorded – almost by 20%.
Mutual trade is also developing with the Azerbaijani Republic, Marat Khusnullin noted at a meeting with Shahin Mustafaev. Last year, Russian-Azerbaijani trade turnover amounted to 4.1 billion dollars. The countries are focused on increasing settlements in national currencies.
“This is the merit of, among other things, the confidential nature of the dialogue between the leaders of our states: Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev. Russian companies are actively operating in the Azerbaijani market, implementing large projects in the fields of mechanical engineering, construction, transport, chemical, pharmaceutical, and medical industries. About 1,800 companies with Russian capital participation are represented.””In addition, cooperation is also taking place at the regional level – trade and economic ties with Azerbaijan are supported by 75 subjects of the Russian Federation,” said Marat Khusnullin.
He thanked foreign colleagues for the constructive dialogue and active participation in KazanForum.
