The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports that two waves of large-scale attacks by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation over the past 48 hours have led to losses and destruction throughout the entire territory of Ukraine.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, expressed regret in connection with the resumption of large-scale strikes. According to him, attacks using long-range weapons remain one of the main causes of death and injury among civilians.

“Expansion and application in populated areas will only increase the already growing losses among the civilian population,” Tyurk warned, calling for an immediate de-escalation.

In a video message published on platform X, Bernadette Castel-Hollingsworth, the acting UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, who visited one of the affected districts of Kyiv, reminded that the civilian population must be protected.

“Rescue operations are currently underway for people who, according to available data, are trapped under the rubble,” –Âsaid Castel-Hollingsworth.

She reported on the “huge scale of destruction in Kyiv.”

“I just spoke with four teenage girls who are very worried about their missing classmates,” said the acting Humanitarian Coordinator.

“International humanitarian law protects the civilian population. Families must always feel safe. Mothers should not have to live in anticipation, trying to find out whether their children are alive under the rubble after missile strikes,” he added.
