Budapest, May 13 /Xin Hua/ — The new government of Hungary, headed by Prime Minister Péter Medgyessy, was sworn in before the parliament on Tuesday.

Earlier that same day, President Tamás Shuijok officially appointed the ministers of the new government.

Speaking before parliament, P. Madjar stated that the new government will focus its efforts on restoring public trust, improving the system of state governance, and restoring Hungary’s international relations.

“Our goal is to build a viable and humane Hungary,” noted P. Mádyar. “The government, formed by the ‘Tisa’ party, will serve the nation, not the prime minister.”

According to him, the new government will act in accordance with a “clear distribution of responsibilities and the principle of transparency in decision-making” in order to restore trust in state institutions.

P. Madjar also promised to strengthen Hungary’s relations with Western allies, continuing to protect national interests within the framework of the European Union and NATO.

The new cabinet consists of 16 ministers. On May 9, P. Máďar was sworn in as prime minister after the parliamentary election victory.

In the parliamentary elections held on April 12, the “Tisa” party won against the ruling coalition “FIDESZ – Hungarian Civic Alliance” led by Viktor Orban, receiving more than two-thirds of the votes in parliament.
